A boot under a skirt or a coat can be as sensual as a high-heeled shoe, in fact it can be much more erotic, a little vulgar for some... but that's a whole other story.
Which leg height to get them to and which mountains to climb in winter is entirely your choice...altitude is not for everyone, always remember that.
